Condition: Age Spots
The term "age spots" is somewhat of a catch-all. As we age, we begin to show signs of aging with dark spots, light spots, bumps, tags, and crusty and other abnormal skin lesions. Still, the primary categories are usually related to either pigment changes to our skin or growths on our skin.
Most of the pigment skin changes occur as a result of oxidation that occurs early in life. Melanocytes, which provide our coloring, are the sites where pigment is produced. Oxidation, especially from sun, can cause these melanocytes to be affected and create a condition later in life that causes a cluster of pigment, or the other extreme, a complete loss of pigment, in an area of skin.
Other names for pigment age spots are liver spots (they are now known to have nothing to do with the liver), Lentigos, and Senile Lentigines. These dark pigment areas of the skin are pigment clusters that are very common after the age of 40. They often occur on the backs of the hands, on the forearms, shoulder, face, and forehead where exposure to the sunlight's radiation. They are usually harmless and painless, but they may affect the cosmetic appearance of the skin.

The Wellness Solution
Total Oxidation Management can help prevent and often diminish all of these conditions. As always, strict attention should be given to these unusual growths on the skin. However, unless a physician has determined there is cause for immediate removal, you may find that attacking the affected area twice a day, morning and night after every cleansing-with EC Mode Vitamin C Serum followed by EC Mode Hydro-Driver Moisturizer can make a significant difference in the appearance and the discomfort of the condition.
Our wellness approach to age spots uses nature's own vitamins and minerals to:
- Scavenge oxidizing free radicals from the sun's ultraviolet rays that darken skin pigment causing age spots. (Clinical Research).
- Normalize exfoliation of skin to improve skin clarity.
- Provide a barrier preventing the formation of free radicals.
- Gently acidify the natural ph balance of the skin.
- Increase collagen synthesis for new cell growth. (Clinical Research).
